The college had its birth on 1st july-1967 by the efforts of the pachaiyappa’s trust, philanthropist of kanchipuram and the undaunding efforts of Aringar Anna. It had a small beginning at a residential accommodation and by 1968 shared the building with pachaiyappa’s higher secondary school. Aringar Anna persuaded his rich friend thiru. K.S. Kempu chettiar to donate his land to shift the college to its own building. He donated 6.5 acres of land and the trust purchased 3.5 acres of the adjoining land. A building was constructed in this 10 acres and the college was shifted in 1975.
The college developed in leaps and bounds. New courses were started in the subsequent years and presently there are 5 courses in the shift – I (Aided)
In 1989-90 the shift II (Unaided) courses were started Initially, U.G. Courses and subsequently P.G. Courses were introduced Presently there are 8 U.G. Courses and 4 P.G. courses.
This is one of the earliest women’s college Our college is well known for its discipline and extra curricular activities (SPORTS,NCC & NSS). The academic excellence of the college is the proved by the production of University rank holders every year in the various disciplines. The college caters to all strata of society.
